ESPS Arc Flash and Shock Hazard Analysis Flow Chart Table Method

 

Revision 2.0

  1. Select the electrical equipment to be worked on, description of work task to be performed and voltage rating of the equipment
  2. Determine the Shock Approach Boundaries using CSA Z462 Table 1A or 1B or NFPA 70E, Table 130.4(C)(a) or Table.130.4(C)(b)
  3. Determine the Maximum Short Circuit Current and Maximum Fault Clearing Time for this work task: _______kA ______cycles
  4. Select Arc Flash Boundary from Parameters as per CSA Z462 Table 4A or 4B or NFPA 70E Table 130.7(C)(15)(a) or Table 130.7(C)(b)
  5. Select the Hazard/Risk Category (H/RC) for work task as given in CSA Z462, Table 4A or 4B or NFPA 70E, Table 130.7(C)(15)(a) or Table 130.7(C)(15)(b)
  6. Identify requirements for Rubber Insulating Gloves and Insulated & Insulating Hand Tools as per CSA Z462, Table 4A or 4B or NPFA 70E, Table 130.7(C)(15)(a) or Table 130.7(C)(15)(b).
  7. List Electrical Specific PPE required for the selected H/RC as per CSA Z462, Table 5 or NFPA 70E, Table 130.7(C)(16)
  8. List the Minimum Arc Rating (e.g. ATPV or EBT) values for PPE clothing for the H/RC as per CSA Z462, Table 5 or NFPA 70E, Table 130.7(C)(16)
