ESPS ESP Items to Consider When Implementing an ES PPE Program

 

The following items should be reviewed and considered when implementing an Electrical Safety Program and underneath it the requirements outlined for Electrical Specific PPE, Tools & Equipment. The implementation, use, and ongoing management of Electrical Specific PPE, Tools & Equipment is a requirement of the Electrical Safety Program.

There may be existing PPE policies, practices or standards that should be reviewed to ensure they contain specific reference to Electrical Specific PPE, Tools & Equipment and are consistent with CSA Z462/NFPA 70E, and the specific requirements of other applicable Standards such as CSA, the American Society of Testing & Materials (ASTM), IEC, IEEE, etc. Duplication of information in two different Policy or Practice documents should be avoided, but the OH&S department may want Electrical Specific PPE, Tools & Equipment included in the overall PPE document, each company will address how documentation is provided to electrical workers in either an overall PPE document or Electrical Safety Program, Policy or Procedure document where requirements for Electrical Specific PPE, Tools & Equipment are identified, and outlined for the electrical worker to reference.
